Vision 21. A Manifesto for Disability and Deaf Arts    January 2008 ongoing

Arcadea is working in partnership with a number of other regional and national UK Disability Arts Forums and regional agencies to develop a national voice and position on Disability Equality in Art and Culture through a fully consultative process. It is hoped that there will be consultation from June-September, a conference in the Autumn, toward publication of the Manifesto in November 2008. More news soon . . .

Fisheye: Disabled Artists at Work – Waygood’s Slow TV   11th-15th April 2008

Fisheye’s photographs of Disabled artists at work were selected to be part of Waygood’s Slow TV project where four sets of images are projected through 4 television screen in the window of the Waygood’s soon to be re-developed High Bridge Street base.

Arcadea has a flickr page on the photo sharing web site. The development of a photo blog is part of raising the profile of artists at work and also challenging some of the many negative perceptions of Disabled people involved in arts activity.

Plexus: Cultural Connections for Disabled People    July-Dec 2008.

This is a networking and information project. arcadea aims to promote and improve the status of Disabled people by celebrating Disability culture and sharing the ideas and experiences of the Disability Community with wider society in a number of creative ways.  More...

High Impact   2008

Arcadea is exploring its role in Artistic Development and the development of Disability Aesthetics/Aesthetics of Change. It is hoped that we will support artists to deliver a number of high impact artistic and cultural interventions throughout 2008 which explore and expand public spaces.

Hidden Traces In the Plot – John Addison   2009

Arcadea’s director has been working with photographer John Addison on the DNA programme. He has recently secured an exhibition at The Custom’s House, South Shields where he has been offered both the Sandford Goudie and Fusion Galleries for different aspects of his exhibition. Hidden Traces in the Plot will also develop a significant community and education programme.
