Hardest Hit Conference 1st June 2012
The Arcadea HUB team are looking forward holding a stall at the upcoming Hardest Hit Conference where people can find out more about the impact of cuts on the disabled community. While you're there make sure you find us and speak to one of our representatives about what we do. Bill Wilson will be there along with two of our HUB Club members Peter and Wendy, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Disability Arts & Human Rights Year 3 25th May 2012
We are looking forward to meeting with BIHR's newest team member Sophie Howes on the 25th to begin planning for the next exciting year of the Human Rights pilot.
Farewell Katrin 11th May 2012
Today is sadly Katrin Aulds last day with the organisation. Having sucessfully completed her 12 month apprenticeship with Arcadea she is now moving on to a new exciting phase in her life - motherhood! We would like to wish Katrin every success for the future and to thank her for all her hard work over the last year.
HUB Steering Group Meeting 3rd May 2012

FANE Friendship Conference 19th April 2012
You can find us at the Friends Action North East Friendship Conference for learning disabled adults at the Discovery Museum. Come down to find out about organisations in the local area that can help you to socialise and build up a network of friends in the city.

Newcastle Cultural Sevrices are running their Marketplace today at Live Theatre where our staff can be found at the HUB stall making t-shirts and sharing information with the participants.

Exhibition: World Human Rights Day
An exhibition celebrating Human Rights in the community 10/12/11 to 12/01/12.
This exhbition features the work of local disabled artists and is produced in collaboration with Arcadea & the British Institute of Human Rights. An extraordinary Set of responses challenging out understanding of the ways in which Human Rights issues touch our every day lives. With thanks to the Welford Centre and Wansbeck Disability Forum.

HUB Steering Group Meeting
Following the success of Take off the HUB launch event we would now like to invite learning disabled adults and their advocates to attend a meeting at the Premier Inn Newcastle. This creative meeting is to share information with those who may be interested in forming a Steering Group that in an advisory role will help shape the future of the HUB.
Human Rights in the Community 16th & 17th November 2011
Arcadea in association with the British Institute of Human Rights are running 2 creative workshops on the subject of Human Rights in the Community at the Welford Centre and Wansbeck Disability Forum. If this is a subject that interests you then please get in touch with a member of staff.
November 2011 - Calling All Disabled Writers
At Arcadea we are working to put local disabled writers in touch with one another and provide an accessible space to hold creative meetings on a regular basis. If this is something you are interested in then please contact Katrin for more information.

Coming this month is the online HUB directory, a free whats on creative & cultural activity guide for learning disabled people in the city. If there is an inclusive creative or cultural activity that you would like to be included in the directory then please contact the office and give us the details.

We're putting together a series of Artists Forums to help and support disabled artists in the region, initially we will be putting together 3 groups; Visual Arts, Performing Arts & Writers/Poets. If you are interested in joining or would like further information then please contact the office.

We're very pleased to welcome Katrin Ostlund to our team. Katrin is joining us part time as a Business Administration Apprentice and will be responsible for co-ordination of the Hub alongside her other more general duties. Katrin also has a background in fine art and we are sure that she will prove to be a valuable addition to the organisation.
