| Photography has chosen me; with this comes a real sense of being alive especially when observing and capturing images others often pass by. My work often appears from spontaneous, natural feelings of passion or seeking out unusual images in everyday encounters. For me intuition, self-belief and experience come into play when selecting an image, patience also plays its role. Virtually all of my recent photography is in black and white medium. This interest and love began when living on the Island of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Shooting a particular tree in black and white made me aware of a hidden beauty and character in the image. I once read that black and white photography reaches the heart and soul of the matter. Dissatisfied with colour photography for a long time I now explore both mediums, accepting colour is needed on certain occasions. My work illustrates my love for photography and reaching a wider audience is a future ambition. |
